Lios Póil recorded their first win of the year as they overcame the challenge of Castlegregory and in the process secured two valuable points in the West Kerry League. The opening quarter was low scoring with Castlegregory enjoying a slender one point lead 0-03 to 0-02, Garreth Ó Nuanáin getting the points for Lios Póil. For the final 15 minutes of the first half Castlegregory continued to dominate as they outscored the hosts by four points to three. Point scorer for Castlegreory Colm O’Mahony and for Lios Póil Ciarán Ó Súilleabháin and previously mentioned Ó Nuanáin.
Trailing by three points 0-07 to 0-04 at half time, Lios Póil made short work of the gap with Deaglán Ó Súilleabháin, Adrian Ó Raoil and Ciarán Trike Ó Súilleabháin bringing them level. Following a goal from Tomás Ó Caomhánaigh, Lios Póil seized the lead and ensured that they held it. Castlegregory, largely through Colm O’ Mahony did succeed in reducing the margin to two, but inspired and freshly introduced substitute Cathal Ó Sé had it back to three immediately. The game was finished as a contest when Deaglán Ó Súilleabháin, reacting fastest from a ball sent in from Ciarán Ó Súilleabháin, goaled to ensure that the final score was 2-13 to 0-14.
