Lios Póil 1:19
Moyvane 4:06
Lios Póil recorded a 4 point win over Moyvane in the first round of the Novice Championship in Lios póil on Saturday evening. Lios Póil began strongly and within the space of three minutes had recorded a three point lead with scores from Mícheál Jim Mac Gearailt, Adrian Ó Raoil and Declán Ó Súílleabháín. When Moyvane eventually registered their first score at the end of the first quarter through Donal Leahy the score was 0:06 to 0:01 in favour of Lios Póil. Lios Póil went on to dominate the rest of the half, with further scores coming from Ciarán Ó Súilleabháin 1:01 and Deaclán Ó Súilleabháin to name just a few. While this was happening Moyvane found it difficult to score with a strong defensive display, which included players such as Dara Ó Súilleabháin and Garret Ó Nuanáin. Moyvane struck a goal from Timmy Noonan just before half time to leave the score 1:10 to 1:02 in favour of Lios Póil.
Tomás Ó Caomhánigh added a point to Lios Póil lead, immediately at the commencement of the second half, only for Brian Stack to bring it back to 8 points once more. That didn’t deter him as he and Ciarán Ó Súilleabháin went to score four points between them to leave a deficit of 12 points for Moyvane.
Three further points courtesy of Declán Ó Súilleabháin and one from Shane Ó Muircheartaigh brought this to 16. It is at this point that Moyvane rallied with three goals, two from Timmy Noonan and one from Con Mulvihill, and points but it was in vain as Lios Póil ran out victorious on the scoreline of Lios Póil 1:19, Moyvane 4:06
